About the Badge

The PWRR cap badge is a composition of the badges of its forebear regiments, incorporating three principal elements. The centrepiece is the Elizabethan Dragon, awarded to The Buffs by Queen Anne in 1707 in recognition of their Tudor origins. Beneath the dragon sits the Hampshire Rose, representing the rose awarded by King Henry V to the men of Hampshire who fought at the Battle of Agincourt in 1415. Framing the dragon are the Prince of Wales's Ostrich Feathers, symbolising the regiment's royal title and its ties to previous regiments bearing the Prince of Wales's connection.
