About the Badge

The cap badge is a composite of emblems inherited from three predecessor regiments. At its centrepiece, St George slaying the Dragon — inherited from the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers — represents courage and the defeat of evil. The central image is encircled by a Blue and Gold Belt bearing the Order of the Garter motto “Honi soit qui mal y pense” — Shame on him who thinks evil of it — framed by a Laurel Wreath inherited from the Lancashire Fusiliers and originally awarded for their gallantry at the Battle of Minden in 1759. The entire design is surmounted by the King's Crown (Tudor Crown), passed down from the Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment), representing service during the reign of His Majesty King Charles III.
