About the Badge

The Gordon Highlanders adopted the crest of the Dukes of Gordon as their cap badge. It features a stag’s head issuing from a ducal coronet, surrounded by a wreath of ivy representing the Gordon family. Beneath is the distinctive BYDAND scroll. Bydand is a Scots word meaning “steadfast”, reflecting the regiment’s long-standing motto and identity.
