About the Badge
The Household Cavalry cap badge was introduced in 1913 and its Royal Cypher changes with the Sovereign. A National Army Museum example from around 1919 records the Household Cavalry badge with the motto Honi soit qui mal y pense. British Army records confirm that all ranks of The Life Guards and The Blues and Royals wear the Household Cavalry cap badge on the forage cap, while their separate regimental badges are worn on the service dress cap and beret. This Queen's Crown version carries the cypher and St Edward's Crown associated with the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
