King's Own Royal Border Regiment Beret Badge
Official MOD-Licensed Display Piece

A proud tribute to the King's Own Royal Border Regiment — a distinguished line infantry regiment of the British Army, formed on 1 October 1959 at Barnard Castle, County Durham, from the amalgamation of the King's Own Royal Regiment (Lancaster) and the Border Regiment. Part of the King's Division, the regiment was headquartered at Carlisle Castle, Cumbria, and served with honour across the world before being amalgamated into the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment (King's, Lancashire and Border) on 1 July 2006. About the Badge

The King's Own Royal Border Regiment beret badge unites the proud histories of its two antecedent regiments in a single striking design. At its centre sits the Lion of England — a Royal Lion statant guardant — representing the King's Own Royal Regiment (Lancaster). Encircling the lion is a Laurel Wreath, honouring the 34th (Cumberland) Regiment of Foot, part of the former Border Regiment, for their distinguished actions at the Battle of Fontenoy in 1745. Together, these elements reflect the regiment's deep Lancastrian and Border county heritage and its centuries of service to the Crown.

A defining feature of the beret badge is its scarlet diamond felt backing — a tradition with roots in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The King's Own Royal Regiment (Lancaster) wore a red backing on tropical slouch hats and helmets during the Boer War, a distinction that carried forward into the new regiment. When the King's Own Royal Border Regiment was formed in 1959, the scarlet diamond backing was officially adopted, setting the regiment apart from other units within the King's Division. This proud distinction endured until the regiment's amalgamation into the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment in 2006.

Frequently Asked Questions

At Precision Military Emblems, our military badges and emblems are produced using advanced precision 3D printing technology to create highly detailed reproductions of military insignia. Unlike many manufacturers who prioritise speed, we use refined print settings and slower production processes to minimise visible layer lines and maximise accuracy. Each badge is carefully finished and quality inspected to ensure exceptional detail, depth, and definition.

When choosing a 3D military display, it is important to consider the accuracy of the badge reproduction, the quality of the craftsmanship, and the materials used throughout the display. Look for highly detailed reproductions rather than mass-produced replicas. You should also ensure the manufacturer is authorised to reproduce military insignia where required. Precision Military Emblems operates under official Ministry of Defence (MOD) licensing where applicable, ensuring displays are produced responsibly and to a professional standard.

All Precision Military Emblems displays are individually made to order. Standard production lead times are typically 5–10 working days before dispatch. Because we use precision 3D printing with enhanced quality settings, production takes longer than many standard manufacturing methods. Once dispatched, UK orders are usually delivered within 1–3 working days. Tracking information is provided with every order.
