About the Badge
The Queen's Own Highlanders (Seaforth and Camerons) formed in 1961 through the amalgamation of the Seaforth Highlanders and The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders, bringing together the traditions of both Scottish infantry regiments.
The distinctive cap badge combines a stag's head and branching antlers with a crowned Scottish thistle and the Gaelic motto CUIDICH ’N RIGH, commonly translated as “Help the King”. This display reproduces the historical Queen's Crown pattern associated with the regiment.
In 1994, The Queen's Own Highlanders amalgamated with the Gordon Highlanders to form The Highlanders (Seaforth, Gordons and Camerons).
Mackenzie (Seaforth) Tartan Backing
The badge is presented against professionally pigment-printed Mackenzie (Seaforth) tartan backing in modern colours, with deep green, navy blue and black checks crossed by fine red and white stripes. The tartan reflects the regiment's Seaforth heritage and was worn in Queen's Own Highlanders kilts.
The badge and backing are carefully hand mounted inside a deep box frame, with each display individually assembled in Leicestershire.
