About the Badge
The Royal Army Medical Service King's Crown badge brings together the historic symbols of the British Army's three former healthcare corps into a single distinctive emblem. At its centre, a serpent entwines the blade of a sword, combining the internationally recognised symbol of medicine inherited from the Royal Army Medical Corps with the sword representing the Royal Army Dental Corps. Beneath the sword is the Dannebrog Cross, reflecting the heritage of Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps. These elements are enclosed within a laurel wreath, symbolising honour, achievement and distinguished service, and are surmounted by the King's Crown (Tudor Crown), representing service under His Majesty King Charles III.
The scroll bears the motto Steadfast, adopted following the formation of the Royal Army Medical Service in 2024. Together, the badge represents the unification of the Royal Army Medical Corps, Royal Army Dental Corps and Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps into a single organisation dedicated to delivering world-class military healthcare wherever the British Army serves.
