About the Badge

The RGJ cap badge is a complex and richly detailed design comprising six elements. At its centre sits a Bugle Horn — the traditional emblem of light infantry and rifle regiments — mounted over an Eight-Pointed Maltese Cross, whose four main arms bear the regiment's Battle Honours. A Laurel Wreath encircles the cross and bugle horn. At the base, a Scroll bears the battle honour “Peninsula”, commemorating the regiment's distinguished service during the Napoleonic Peninsular War. The entire design is surmounted by the Queen's Crown (St. Edward's Crown), representing service during the reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
