Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers Cap Badge
Official MOD-Licensed Military Display Piece — Queen's Crown Edition

Celebrate the distinguished heritage of the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers (Militia) with this officially licensed cap badge display piece. As the senior Reserve regiment of the British Army and the oldest regiment in the British Army of any kind, the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers trace their origins to 1539 — predating the regular army itself. The regiment has served with distinction across centuries of British military history and continues to serve today as part of the Army Reserve.

This precision display piece faithfully reproduces the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers' distinctive cap badge in the Queen's Crown variant — as worn during the reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II — finished in full colour and supplied with an integrated keyhole mount, ready to hang straight from the box.

About the Badge

The Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers (Militia) cap badge is unique within the British Army — the only unit to hold two “Royal” titles and the distinction of featuring two royal crowns. The two-part metal and anodised design is composed of the following primary elements:

  • The Queen's Crown — Positioned at the very top of the badge, symbolising the monarch as worn during the Elizabethan era
  • The Prince of Wales’s Coronet — Situated below the crown, represented as three feathers or plumes
  • The Scroll — Beneath the plumes, a small scroll is inscribed with the Prince of Wales’s motto, ICH DIEN (German for “I serve”)
  • The Backing Plate — A riveted gold backing features the letters R and E (for Royal Engineers) placed on either side of the plumes
  • The Lower Scroll — At the base of the badge, a larger scroll bears the regimental title ROYAL MONMOUTHSHIRE

This is one of the most heraldically complex and historically significant cap badges in the British Army, worn with immense pride by those who serve in Britain’s oldest regiment.

Frequently Asked Questions

At Precision Military Emblems, our military badges and emblems are produced using advanced precision 3D printing technology to create highly detailed reproductions of military insignia. Unlike many manufacturers who prioritise speed, we use refined print settings and slower production processes to minimise visible layer lines and maximise accuracy. Each badge is carefully finished and quality inspected to ensure exceptional detail, depth, and definition.

When choosing a 3D military display, it is important to consider the accuracy of the badge reproduction, the quality of the craftsmanship, and the materials used throughout the display. Look for highly detailed reproductions rather than mass-produced replicas. You should also ensure the manufacturer is authorised to reproduce military insignia where required. Precision Military Emblems operates under official Ministry of Defence (MOD) licensing where applicable, ensuring displays are produced responsibly and to a professional standard.

All Precision Military Emblems displays are individually made to order. Standard production lead times are typically 5–10 working days before dispatch. Because we use precision 3D printing with enhanced quality settings, production takes longer than many standard manufacturing methods. Once dispatched, UK orders are usually delivered within 1–3 working days. Tracking information is provided with every order.
