Royal Tank Regiment Queen's Crown Full Colour Cap Badge Display Frame
Official MOD-Licensed Military Display Piece
Celebrate the proud heritage of the Royal Tank Regiment (RTR) with this officially licensed Queen's Crown Full Colour Cap Badge Display Frame.
The Royal Tank Regiment traces its origins to the Heavy Branch of the Machine Gun Corps, established in 1916 to operate the newly developed tank during the First World War. Following its success on the Western Front, it became the Tank Corps in July 1917 before being granted the title Royal Tank Corps by King George V in 1923 in recognition of its distinguished service. In 1939, it adopted its present name, the Royal Tank Regiment, becoming the senior regiment of the Royal Armoured Corps and the oldest tank regiment in the world.
Since the first use of tanks in battle at Flers-Courcelette on 15 September 1916, the Royal Tank Regiment has remained at the forefront of armoured warfare. Its soldiers have served with distinction throughout the First and Second World Wars, Korea, the Gulf War, Iraq and Afghanistan, earning a reputation for courage, professionalism and innovation. Today, the Regiment continues to serve as one of the British Army's principal armoured fighting regiments, proudly upholding its famous motto, Fear Naught.
This display frame features the Queen's Crown pattern of the Royal Tank Regiment cap badge, representing the design worn throughout the reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Introduced following her accession to the throne, the St Edward's Crown became the standard crown used on British military insignia from 1953 until 2022, making this version of the cap badge familiar to generations of Royal Tank Regiment soldiers.

About the Badge
The Royal Tank Regiment cap badge centres on a First World War Mark I tank, commemorating the Regiment's pioneering role in the birth of armoured warfare and its place as the world's oldest tank regiment. The tank symbolises innovation, determination and the revolutionary impact that armoured warfare has had on the modern battlefield.
Surrounding the tank is a laurel wreath, representing honour, achievement and distinguished military service. Above the wreath sits the Queen's Crown (St Edward's Crown), identifying this as the pattern of the cap badge worn throughout the reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Introduced in 1953, the Queen's Crown remained the standard crown used on British Army insignia for almost seventy years and became synonymous with generations of Royal Tank Regiment soldiers who served during the Cold War and on operations around the world.
Beneath the badge is the Regiment's famous motto, Fear Naught, a concise yet powerful expression of the courage, resilience and determination expected of every Royal Tank Regiment soldier. Together, these elements represent more than a century of armoured warfare, operational excellence and proud regimental tradition.
