About the Badge

The Scots Guards cap badge takes the form of the Star of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle, Scotland's highest order of chivalry. At its centre is a thistle, the national emblem of Scotland, enclosed within a green circlet bearing the historic motto Nemo Me Impune Lacessit (“No One Provokes Me With Impunity”). Beneath the thistle is the Cross of St Andrew, symbolising Scotland's Patron Saint and reinforcing the regiment's proud Scottish heritage.

Unlike many British Army cap badges, the Scots Guards badge is not surmounted by a Royal Crown. Its distinctive crownless design has remained a defining feature of the regiment's insignia throughout its history.
