The Light Dragoons Cap Badge – King's Crown

Official MOD-Licensed Military Reproduction

Celebrate the proud heritage of The Light Dragoons with this officially licensed reproduction of the regiment's current King's Crown cap badge.

Formed on 1 December 1992 through the amalgamation of The 13th/18th Royal Hussars (Queen Mary's Own) and The 15th/19th The King's Royal Hussars, The Light Dragoons inherited centuries of distinguished British light cavalry tradition. Today, the regiment serves as part of the Royal Armoured Corps, continuing the historic light cavalry role through modern reconnaissance.

About the Badge

The Light Dragoons cap badge combines the identity of the modern regiment with traditions inherited from its predecessor cavalry regiments.

The Maltese Cross

The design features a distinctive silver-coloured Maltese Cross with diamond-patterned fields, with a gold-coloured laurel wreath surrounding the central device.

The Central Device

At its centre are the gold "LD" initials, surrounded by a blue circlet carrying the combined regimental motto:

VIRET IN ÆTERNUM MEREBIMUR

The motto brings together traditions of the regiment's two immediate predecessors. Viret in Æternum comes through The 13th/18th Royal Hussars (Queen Mary's Own), while Merebimur comes through The 15th/19th The King's Royal Hussars.

The Royal Crest

Above the central device is the Royal Crest, consisting of the Royal Crown surmounted by a crowned lion. The current version features the Tudor Crown associated with the reign of King Charles III.

Together, these elements create a distinctive modern cavalry badge while preserving traditions inherited from the regiments that came together to form The Light Dragoons.

Frequently Asked Questions

At Precision Military Emblems, our military badges and emblems are produced using advanced precision 3D printing technology to create highly detailed reproductions of military insignia. Unlike many manufacturers who prioritise speed, we use refined print settings and slower production processes to minimise visible layer lines and maximise accuracy. Each badge is carefully finished and quality inspected to ensure exceptional detail, depth, and definition.

When choosing a 3D military display, it is important to consider the accuracy of the badge reproduction, the quality of the craftsmanship, and the materials used throughout the display. Look for highly detailed reproductions rather than mass-produced replicas. You should also ensure the manufacturer is authorised to reproduce military insignia where required. Precision Military Emblems operates under official Ministry of Defence (MOD) licensing where applicable, ensuring displays are produced responsibly and to a professional standard.

All Precision Military Emblems displays are individually made to order. Standard production lead times are typically 5–10 working days before dispatch. Because we use precision 3D printing with enhanced quality settings, production takes longer than many standard manufacturing methods. Once dispatched, UK orders are usually delivered within 1–3 working days. Tracking information is provided with every order.
