About the Badge

The cap badge of The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards brings together the heritage of the regiment's two immediate predecessors. The Eagle commemorates the French Imperial Eagle captured from the 45th Regiment of the Line at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815 by Sergeant Charles Ewart of the Royal Scots Greys.

The crossed carbines are inherited from the 3rd Carabiniers. The Eagle stands above the WATERLOO tablet, with the crossed carbines behind and the ROYAL SCOTS DRAGOON GUARDS scroll below, bringing together the principal badge traditions of both immediate predecessor regiments in the insignia of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards.
