14th/20th King's Hussars Cap Badge

Official MOD-Licensed Military Display Piece

Celebrate the proud heritage of the 14th/20th King's Hussars with this officially licensed cap badge display piece. Formed in 1922 from the amalgamation of the 14th King's Hussars and the 20th Hussars, the regiment carried the "King's" designation from the 14th King's Hussars, one of the two founding regiments. With battle honours spanning the Napoleonic Wars to the Second World War — including distinguished service in India, the Boer War, and North Africa — the 14th/20th King's Hussars served with distinction across two centuries of British cavalry history.

This precision display piece faithfully reproduces the 14th/20th King's Hussars' distinctive cap badge — universally known as "The Hawk" — in authentic colours and is supplied with an integrated keyhole mount, ready to hang straight from the box.

About the Badge

The 14th/20th King's Hussars cap badge — universally known as "The Hawk" — is one of the most distinctive and historically significant badges in the British Army. The badge was awarded to the 14th Light Dragoons in 1798 by Crown Princess Frederica of Prussia, in gratitude for the regiment escorting her to England for her marriage to the Duke of York. That singular act of royal favour gave the regiment one of the most recognisable emblems in cavalry tradition.

The badge centres on the Prussian Eagle, depicted with extended wings and turned to its right (heraldic dexter) in the classical tradition. The eagle is crowned, symbolising royal favour and its Prussian origins. In its extended claws it holds a sceptre in the right and an orb in the left — the full regalia of sovereignty. A distinctive clover-leaf motif is detailed on both wings, adding further heraldic complexity to an already striking design.

Frequently Asked Questions

At Precision Military Emblems, our military badges and emblems are produced using advanced precision 3D printing technology to create highly detailed reproductions of military insignia. Unlike many manufacturers who prioritise speed, we use refined print settings and slower production processes to minimise visible layer lines and maximise accuracy. Each badge is carefully finished and quality inspected to ensure exceptional detail, depth, and definition.

When choosing a 3D military display, it is important to consider the accuracy of the badge reproduction, the quality of the craftsmanship, and the materials used throughout the display. Look for highly detailed reproductions rather than mass-produced replicas. You should also ensure the manufacturer is authorised to reproduce military insignia where required. Precision Military Emblems operates under official Ministry of Defence (MOD) licensing where applicable, ensuring displays are produced responsibly and to a professional standard.

All Precision Military Emblems displays are individually made to order. Standard production lead times are typically 5–10 working days before dispatch. Because we use precision 3D printing with enhanced quality settings, production takes longer than many standard manufacturing methods. Once dispatched, UK orders are usually delivered within 1–3 working days. Tracking information is provided with every order.
