About the Badge

The Light Infantry cap badge features a silver-coloured stringed bugle horn — the traditional symbol of light infantry regiments throughout the British Army. Unlike the later cap badge of The Rifles, the Light Infantry badge was not surmounted by a Royal Crown. The bugle reflects the Light Infantry’s historic use of bugle calls rather than drums to command troops in the field. This variant features a red centre backing behind the badge, faithfully reproducing the appearance of the badge as it was worn on the beret in service.
