Prince of Wales's Own Regiment of Yorkshire Cap Badge – 3D Wall Display
This Prince of Wales's Own Regiment of Yorkshire Cap Badge is a large-format 3D-printed reproduction of the regiment's distinctive White Horse of Hanover design. Produced in Leicestershire under official MOD licence, it is made for commemorative display rather than wear on a uniform.
The raised silver-coloured White Horse stands above the YORKSHIRE inscription on a black base, recalling the badge worn by a regiment whose history brought together two longstanding Yorkshire infantry traditions.
The White Horse of Hanover
The White Horse has a long association with the former West Yorkshire Regiment (The Prince of Wales's Own), descended from the 14th Foot. The Prince of Wales's Own Regiment of Yorkshire initially wore the Yorkshire Brigade cap badge before adopting the White Horse above a mount inscribed YORKSHIRE. This reproduction retains that distinctive regimental identity in raised silver-coloured detail.
Regimental History
Formed on 25 April 1958, the Prince of Wales's Own Regiment of Yorkshire united the West Yorkshire Regiment (The Prince of Wales's Own) and the East Yorkshire Regiment (The Duke of York's Own), both with origins in 1685. The regiment served in locations including Aden, Germany, Northern Ireland and Cyprus. In June 2006 it amalgamated with the Green Howards and the Duke of Wellington's Regiment to form the Yorkshire Regiment.
