Formed on 1 July 1968 from the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, Royal Ulster Rifles and Royal Irish Fusiliers, the Royal Irish Rangers served within the British Army until 1992, when they amalgamated with the Ulster Defence Regiment to form The Royal Irish Regiment.
